ACCESS-THERAPY

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THERAPY
The decision to enter therapy can be difficult. I have worked with people who feel ashamed or even embarrassed about their reasons for seeking counselling. What I promise to offer you is honesty, understanding and a space completely free of judgement. I am passionate about helping people by providing a calm and nurturing environment that helps people work through emotional pain and distress.
Through my experience, I have a good understanding of the psychological, and sometimes unconscious, motivations that influence our behaviour and our relationships with those around us. Sometimes unhelpful beliefs are formed through childhood development or trauma and I want to help you identify any such patterns, with the aim of changing them.
The number of sessions I work with clients varies; with some people having as few as six or seven sessions and some people for a much longer time. It entirely depends on your individual need and we will continually evaluate progress throughout our time working together.
What past client have said
“I now feel equipped to love and care for myself better. In doing so, I am better in my relationships with family, friends, and partner. More importantly, I value myself”.
“I understand myself clearer and in doing so can change unhelpful patterns in my life that hold me back.
“I no longer feel like I am surviving. I now feel like I am living”.

ABOUT ACCESS-THERAPY
I am an experienced counsellor with over 15 years working in private practice and NHS mental health services.
I grew up in North Manchester and changed careers in my mid 30's to retrain as a therapist. I spent the first 3 years post-qualification gaining experience by volunteering for various mental health charities, before working for the NHS and in private practice.
MY STORY
Experienced Counsellor
I grew up in North Manchester and changed careers in my mid 30's to retrain as a mental health worker. I spent five years training to become a qualified, professional counsellor at Salford University. I then spent my first 3 years post-qualification as a counsellor, gaining experience by volunteering for various mental health charities. It was during this time that I started to see a link between poor mental health and social inequality. I could see first-hand how those who were most discriminated because of their race, gender, sexuality, age and social deprivation, were often the people with the most complex mental health needs. I have since become passionate about trying to create a counselling service as inclusive and as accessible to as many different people as possible. I am passionate about the work I do and believe everyone should have access to psychological and emotional therapeutic services.
