ACCESS-THERAPY

A counselling service for everyone

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THERAPY

There are many different reasons people choose to have professional counselling. You can expect a safe place to work through the difficulties you are facing. When working together, I promise to offer you insight, encouragement, empathy, patience and honesty. We may only work together for a handful of sessions; or it could be longer if there are complex issues or trauma holding you back from living a more fulfilling life.  We decide together how many sessions are appropriate and we review regularly throughout our time together.

Here are just a few of the common issues that counselling can help with:

  • Episodes of depression

  • Anxiety

  • Problems in relationships

  • Low self esteem

  • Grief and bereavement

  • Difficulties in adjusting to significant life changes

ABOUT ACCESS-THERAPY

I decided to set up Access-Therapy after working for different NHS services in the UK and seeing first hand the difficulties people have accessing therapeutic services through their GP.  It is not uncommon for people to wait 6-12 months for an appointment and sessions are often limited to just a few.  I witnessed people disengaging with the whole process before they had even started. Likewise, in private therapy, the costs involved are often prohibitive. Therefore, I decided to offer only online therapy services, enabling me to keep costs to a minimum.

MY STORY

Experienced Counsellor

I grew up in North Manchester and changed careers in my mid 30's to retrain as a mental health worker. I spent five years training to become a qualified, professional counsellor at Salford University. I then spent my first 3 years post-qualification as a counsellor, gaining experience by volunteering for various mental health charities. It was during this time that I started to see a link between poor mental health and social inequality. I could see first-hand how those who were most discriminated because of their race, gender, sexuality, age and social deprivation, were often the people with the most complex mental health needs. I have since become passionate about trying to create a counselling service as inclusive and as accessible to as many different people as possible.  I am passionate about the work I do and believe everyone should have access to psychological and emotional therapeutic services.
